Eric I. Weitzen (Retired)
He has advised multiple generations of families on preserving their assets and minimizing their taxes. He values his long-term client relationships above all else, and his success can be attributed partly to the time he invests in learning about each client’s unique circumstances and long-term goals.
Eric works closely with his clients to create and implement sophisticated wealth transfer strategies. His focus is on a high and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. He has earned a distinguished reputation for his ability to navigate complicated issues. In addition to estate planning, Eric practices in the areas of business formation and business and real estate transactions.
Before attending law school, Eric worked in corporate finance for General Electric Corporation in New York City. He earned his law degree from California Western School of Law, where he was an editor of the law review, and earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from Syracuse University. Eric founded his own law firm in 1989, which was the precursor of Weitzen Phillips Samuth & Sinex LLP.
Eric has served in various leadership roles and community service throughout his career. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Computers 2 Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring computer literacy and access to technology by providing computers to children who might not otherwise be able to afford them. His community involvement has also included serving on the Board of Directors of the University of California San Diego Foundation, the Moores Cancer Center, the San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club, Congregation Beth Israel, and the Bridges Club.
